Make Art! Explore Art! Talk Art!

PARLOR CITY ARTS is a 800 square foot multifaceted art space. It houses my private art studio where I offer one on one art classes. PCA is also an artist driven space where you and your friends can sign up for art classes/parties, and an open studio that can be used for your lectures and/or classes.

Hello, My name is Rebecca Austin and I am an artist. I started Parlor City Arts because I want to share my knowledge of art and its creation. My goal is not only to create more art but also to help people in their processes of art making.

It’s always been my dream to create a space where people can come and celebrate the idea of creating something no matter the skill level; A place that you can come and feel comfortable on your artistic path. It would be my pleasure for you to have that experience at Parlor City Arts.

A PLACE TO EXPLORE YOUR CREATIVITY,

WHERE WE PROVE ANYONE CAN BE AN ARTIST!

BIO

My art journey started when I was in eighth grade, where I was chosen to go into advanced art classes being held at the high school. I was given the choice to continue with chorus or switch over to art. Luckily, for everyone around me, I picked art! I continued with art classes throughout high school and eventually went to college for art. I graduated from Binghamton University with a BA in both Studio Art and Art History, completing my art degree with high honors in painting.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My work explores the question everyone asks themselves at some point in their life; what makes me, me? Through my artwork, I investigate what influences me as a person, both positively and negatively. Why do I make the choices I make, or why do I pick one habit over the other? Whether these influences are societal, genetic, cultural, or more importantly, ingrained from my upbringing, they all have an effect somewhere in my life. Using a wide variety of mediums, I work through this question, to not only understand my life, but also in hopes that the viewer questions and understands theirs.
